More Elvish dialogue (guess what I've been doing this evening?) :)

More on Languages in The Lord of the Rings movie, found during a search for the Sindarin lyrics to "Aniron." This page even has the Quenya that Saruman chants while the Fellowship is fighting their way up Caradhras...
Wow. I could spend hours on this Czech site full of tons of pictures from the Lord of the Rings movies...and I don't even speak Czech. (Although I think, from reading this site, that "prsten" means "ring.")

For those overwhelmed by Peter Jackson's movie (ahhhhhh!), here's something to bring you back to (Middle) Earth: The Tolkien Sarcasm Page.

You too can form an English plural ending in every letter of the alphabet. Try it!

This remarkable outfit in Texas breeds more exotic animals than I'd ever imagined people would keep as pets. (I mean, when was the last time you were up making a list to Santa Claus begging for a new pet kinkajou, duprasi, or coatimundi?

Check out Kirk Wood Bromley's Inverse Theater. Because language is a toy, you know.

If you participate, as I do, in discussion groups with large populations hailing from the United Kingdom, you'll very quickly learn to love the Peevish Guide to UK Slang.

Eunoia. Self-explanatory.
Somewhat consonant with that microbiography yahoogroup, here's The Mayfly Project 2001 (link courtesy of Mellon, over at Imladris). I posted the following as Laurelin:
Worked. Got sick. Quit job. Volunteered. Thought a lot. Made peace with grief. Now applying to law school.
Which I guess is pretty much this past year in a nutshell.
I want one of these, eventually.
After all the hype, the first installment of Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings movie trilogy is finally here. This Wednesday, in fact. We've got a bunch of Bay-Area-based people from Imladris (and friends thereof) getting together for the 6:20 Wednesday showing at Sony Metreon. Want to join us? Come in costume!

It's always irked me when people like Al Gore complain that income tax breaks favor the wealthy somehow to the exclusion of the common man. Here's a site that explains exactly in which direction disproportionate taxation is skewed. *sigh*
*snicker*
Check out Michael Malone's treatise on Branding as Modern-Day Fiasco. It'll make you giggle too.
This woman in Maryland is selling all her chinchillas. I'd like a few myself, but alas, am compelled to wait until we have a real house with a real basement before growing our herd any further...

I've automated my Christmas list this year.
Here's another Yahoo Group called "Ultra Flash Bios." It's apparently a test to see if you can write your biography (or someone else's) in three sentences and 100 words or less.
Mine would probably look something like: I was born outside of Philadelphia and spent my formative years in New Jersey, where I learned to despise Catholic school. Subsequent education included a bachelor's degree from Yale and a master's in media studies. Now I'm married to my high school sweetheart and living on the West Coast, trying to figure out what direction my life is going to take next.
Or something.

There's something about free services that compels me to subscribe to them. I'd like to think that I'm cyberpopular enough that anyone really gives a crap what I put on my website; but even if I'm not, there's still this subtle thrill that comes from setting up something like an eGroup or a blog of my very own. So here it is; make of it what you will. Its mere existence makes me happy. I like that.
